Botox: The Premier Anti-Aging Treatment

Botox Cosmetic Injections

Fine lines and wrinkles are completely natural signs of aging, but many of our patients at Palms Wellington Plastic Surgery want to achieve a smoother, more youthful look.

If you struggle with unwanted forehead lines, crow’s feet, and other facial creases, Botox can give your skin a fresh start.

What Is Botox?

Botulinum toxin, more commonly known as Botox, is a minimally invasive cosmetic

injectable used to treat and prevent the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. This treatment is approved by the FDA to help correct deep lines by directly injecting Botox into the muscles below.

Botox is one of the most common wrinkle treatments available today. Our cosmetic injectables are safe, efficient, and effective for reducing the signs of aging on your skin.

How Does Botox Work?

This procedure works by targeting the cause of dynamic wrinkles: your muscles. When Botox is injected, it blocks the signals between your nerves and muscles, inhibiting muscle contractions. This allows the skin above to soften and relax.

The placement is precise; we can target specific areas while leaving nearby areas completely unaffected. The difference can be extremely subtle so that you won’t look drastically different – only younger, fresher, and naturally yourself.

What Does Botox Treat?

Botox works to treat signs of aging by directly addressing the formation of dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles result from movements like laughing, crying, raising your eyebrows, frowning, and squinting.

When we perform these facial movements, our skin gets stretched and pulled, causing fine lines. Over time, it becomes more difficult for our skin to bounce back, resulting in deeper lines and more prominent wrinkles.

Many areas have the potential to form wrinkles. Luckily, Botox is an extremely versatile treatment that can address deep lines in the following areas:

Botox for Your Forehead

Forehead lines are the horizontal creases that appear at the top of your face. They are one of the most common signs of aging, but some people can develop them early on in life.

Botox Around Your Eyebrows

Frown lines occur just between your eyebrows at the top of your nose. These lines can develop into the shape of the number 11 or into a deeper, more prominent fold. They can make you look older, angrier, or more tired than you actually are.

If your eyebrows become saggy or uneven, Botox can be used to relax the muscles that pull your eyebrows down, giving the effect of an eyebrow lift without the need for surgery.

Botox Around Your Eyes

Crow’s feet are the wrinkles that form on the outside corners of your eyes when you smile or laugh. For some people, these only show when they smile, but for others, they linger even when their face is resting.

Botox Around Your Mouth

Smile lines are the vertical lines that form from the corners of your mouth and extend downward toward your jaw. Botox can help reduce the appearance of these lines and restore a smoother, livelier look.

Am I a Good Candidate for Botox?

If you are showing signs of aging and desire a fresh, more youthful appearance, then you are likely a good candidate. People of all ages, gender, and skin tones are affected by wrinkles and fine lines.

If you are pregnant, taking certain medications, or have an allergy to any of the ingredients, we may recommend alternative treatment options. If you have any questions about whether you are a good candidate for Botox, don’t be afraid to ask us during your consultation.

What Can I Expect From the Procedure?

What is a Botox procedure like? You should know what to expect before, during, and after Botox wrinkle treatments.

The first step in your treatment plan is to come into our offices for a consultation. We are dedicated to giving you the results you want. First, we will discuss your cosmetic goals. Then, we will take you through our treatment options and recommend the most effective procedure to achieve your goals.

If we decide Botox is the best cosmetic procedure for you, we will review your medical history and make sure you are a good candidate. Once we are ready to move forward, we will design your treatment plan and schedule your first appointment.

This procedure generally only takes a few minutes, with appointments lasting anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. No anesthesia is required, so you can easily fit your appointment into any busy day.

We will ask that you come to your appointment with a natural, product-free face. Before we begin, we will clean your face in the pre-planned treatment areas.

To ensure your comfort, we will apply a numbing cream to your skin before we begin. We use an ultra-fine needle to place the injectable, allowing for quick and precise application. We generally perform three to five injections per treatment session. After completing your treatment, we will apply ice to all affected areas.

There is no downtime associated with Botox cosmetic injectables, so you can immediately return to your day.

As with any cosmetic treatment, we will provide important post-procedure guidelines to help you heal as quickly and smoothly as possible. These guidelines may include avoiding heavy physical exercise, extreme heat, direct sunlight, and cosmetics.

During your consultation, we will outline specific post-procedure care recommendations based on your treatment areas, skincare regimen, and lifestyle.

Over the next few days, you will notice your skin smoothing out as your muscles relax.

Your optimal results will develop approximately three days after your procedure and in no more than seven. You should see continued improvement in the following weeks as your fine lines and wrinkles fade away.

How Long Will My Results Last?

The staying power of cosmetic injectables depends on how quickly your body metabolizes the ingredients found in Botox. This can vary from person to person but results last as long as four months, on average.

Once your body has metabolized the ingredients, the treated muscles will become active again, causing wrinkles to reform.

In order to sustain your results, you will need follow-up maintenance treatments. We will track how long your results last following your initial treatment, which will give us an idea of whether you are a faster or slower metabolizer. This will help us plan your follow-up wrinkle treatments accordingly to help keep your skin wrinkle-free without interruption.
