WHAT IS JUVÉDERM® XC?
JUVÉDERM® XC is manufactured using HYLACROSS™ technology, creating a smooth-consistency gel. It is infused with lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment. With JUVÉDERM® XC you get the smooth results you expect, with the improved comfort you want. Everyone will notice, but no one will know.
WHERE DOES IT WORK?
Everyone’s skin ages differently and JUVÉDERM® XC may be used to rejuvenate multiple problem areas.* From smile lines to vertical lip lines, you can smooth away unwanted wrinkles and restore natural contours. Learn more about the individual treatment areas by rolling over the list below.
HOW DOES JUVÉDERM® XC WORK?
Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). But as you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. The lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds – like those parentheses lines around your nose and mouth.
Using a dermal filler like JUVÉDERM® XC is a safe and effective way to replace the HA your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.
WHAT IS VOLUMA® XC?
Voluma is a Hyaluronic Acid filler, similar to Juvederm XC , but thicker and more highly cross linked. This makes it excellent for filling the deeper layers of the face, especially the cheekbone region. Due to its highly cross-linked structure Voluma has been shown to last up to 2 years. This means that not only does it work well, but it lasts a long time as well.
WHERE IS VOLUMA USED?
Voluma XC is designed to be placed in the deeper layers of the facial soft tissue, especially the cheekbone areas. Voluma XC will help restore a fuller, more youthful appearing facial form.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE?
Anybody, over the age of 21, with decreased fullness of the midface and cheekbone region is a candidate for Voluma XC.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE TREATMENT?
The treatment itself takes about 15-20 minutes. No anesthesia is required. The product contains Lidocaine which is a numbing agent. After the product is placed, an ice pack or cool compress is usually given to the patient to help with any minimal bruising or swelling which may occur.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE THE TREATMENT?
There is not a lot of preparation involved for the patient. . The use of an anti-inflammatory product such as Arnica-Forte is recommended to help with post procedure swelling. The use of blood thinners or NSAIDs such as Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, or Aleeve is not recommended for 7 days prior to treatment. Use of alcohol, especially red wine, is also not recommended for 1 week prior to the procedure as it may thin the blood.
ARE THERE ANY RISKS INVOLVED?
The risks with Voluma XC treatment are the same as with any Hyaluronic Acid product. They are usually minimal, but may include redness, bruising and swelling. If an individual is allergic to Hyaluronic acid or Lidocaine, they should avoid getting Voluma XC. Very rarely, injection into a blood vessel may occur which may have more severe consequences such as visual changes or potential blindness.
