Hair restoration can be a difficult problem for both patients and clinicians to solve. This is partly because the causes of hair loss are diverse and vary from patient-to-patient. If you struggle with hair loss and are looking for a non-invasive therapy that repairs damaged follicles from the inside out, PRP for hair loss might be your ideal method of hair restoration.
With offices located in both Boynton Beach and Wellington, Florida, Hair Restoration of the Palm Beaches is committed to providing our clients with hair restoration methods that work for them. If you’d like more information about our practice or are interested in scheduling a consultation appointment, contact us today!
What is PRP Therapy?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a cellular rejuvenation treatment that uses the body’s own healing growth factors to stimulate tissue regeneration and renewal. Human blood contains stem cells and other essential healing factors that aid in the body’s natural healing process. Platelet-rich plasma contains a particularly high concentration of these growth factors.
During a PRP therapy session, a small amount of blood is drawn from the patient. This blood is then processed through a centrifuge to isolate platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the blood’s components. Once the platelet rich plasma has been adequately isolated, it is reinjected back into the skin at the patient’s target treatment area.
How Can PRP Therapy be used for Hair Restoration?
Many cases of hair loss are the result of damage to the hair follicles that gradually accumulates over time. By increasing blood flow to the hair follicle area and infusing it with healing growth factors, the stem cells within the hair follicle slowly become activated, repairing the follicle and allowing it to produce hair. This treatment method can be used on its own to combat hair loss, or it can be used in conjunction with other treatments to improve their effectiveness.
Am I a Candidate for PRP for Hair Loss?
Nearly anyone interested in reversing the effects of hair loss is a potential candidate for PRP hair loss treatment. However, patients that have a history of heavy smoking, drug, and alcohol use, chronic liver disease, metabolic disease, systemic disorders, skin disease, or cancer may not be able to undergo this procedure.
